The Album L7 is the first and eponymous album by the American riot grrrl band L7. It was the only album to feature original drummer Roy Koutsky on drums before Koutsky was replaced by Dee Plakas.
Musical Style[]
The album is more punk-oriented than their later works. This album goes back to the band's origins before they were in the mainstream media and before they were known as a grunge band. However, the album does carry traces of grunge.
Reception[]
The album has met with mixed reception. The Rolling Stone Album Guide gives the album 2.5 stars out of 5. Allmusic gives the album 3.5 out of 5 stars, with critic Steve Huey criticizing the album's diversity: "their trademark grungy fusion of punk and metal isn't quite fully formed yet, often skewing heavily toward one side of the equation or the other."
